Since AEW first launched in 2019 a number of tag teams have managed to capture tag team gold. Back in September of 2022, The Acclaimed finally solidified themselves as top stars in the tag team division when they won the AEW Tag Team Championship. For some time now an Acclaimed break up has been teased, and the team officially disbanded this week on AEW Collision.

During the show Max Caster told Anthony Bowens that the problem with The Acclaimed is that Bowens won’t acknowledge he’s the best wrestler alive. Bowens said he did everything he could to protect Caster, but for five years he’s had to lie to the fans about who Caster is as a person. He said the truth is Max Caster is a “selfish, edgelord piece of s***.”

Billy Gunn came out and he tried to talk some sense into Bowens and Caster. He reminded them that they’re former AEW Tag Team Champions and former AEW World Trios Champions.

Caster told Billy Gunn he doesn’t care about them, and he accused Billy Gunn of using them so he could hear people chant his name over and over again. Max Caster got in Billy’s face and told him that every tag team he’s ever been in has broken up.

Billy Gunn started to get heated, so Max Caster told Anthony Bowens that he had to make a choice between him, or Billy. Bowens walked up to Caster then gave him the finger and chose Billy Gunn.

Max Caster then officially announced that The Acclaimed is done because he said so, and he’s the leader of the team. Caster said the team is done, and it’s Billy’s fault, Bowens’ fault, and the fault of all the fans at the venue. He then left by himself as Gunn and Bowens celebrated together one last time.
