Ethan Carter III made a surprise appearance at EVOLVE 61 on Saturday night and he brought the house down with a promo that took shots at NXT and Triple H. TNA World Heavyweight Champion Drew Galloway was wrestling Drew Gulak when EC3 made his way to the ring. After the match EC3 grabbed a mic and started talking trash about NXT, Triple H and he also took a shot at Bill DeMott.
EC3 talked about how both he and Drew Galloway became World Champions on their own and the told the crowd that the “King of Kings” blew it. He then talked wrestlers wanting to join NXT so that they can take the next step in their careers. He took a shot at his run on NXT back when it was a competition show and he told the crowd that the show turned him into a survivor.
“‘Oh we have great matches, compelling characters, great storylines.’ NXT, NXT!” EC3 said sarcastically. “You know what makes a star? Surviving. Try surviving obstacle courses, getting slimed, wheelbarrow races, six minute matches where you can’t do any of your cool moves. Here we stand a true success story of independence. Independence is not coddling to the macing. Independence is succeeding despite it.”
Drew Gulak then tried to interfere but EC3 and Galloway beat him down. EC3 continued to talk on the mic and said, “Do you know what this is? This is a microphone. This is what creates box office, this is what puts asses in seats not flips and false finishes.”
EC3 then talked about how he’s been endorsed by Hall of Famers and took a shot at Bill DeMott. “When it comes to being destroyed, I can only think of one obese sociopath who’s best known for being (inaudible). So hey Bill, guess what? I won!”

Two qualifying matches for the Cruiserweight Classic also took place at EVOLVE 61. Drew Gulak defeated Tracy Williams and TJ Perkins (formerly known as Manik/Suicide in TNA) defeated Fred Yehi to qualify for the tournament.
We need more of this everywhere.
