This week Impact Wrestling lost several of their top stars. Let’s do a little recap for anyone who hasn’t been paying attention. Matt and Jeff Hardy, Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis, Jade and former TNA World Heavyweight Champion Drew Galloway have all parted ways with the company.
There was a lot of controversy surround the departure of the The Broken Hardys and Matt’s wife Reby confirmed rumors that Impact officials didn’t get the new contracts to Matt and Jeff until it was too late. With only 5 days to sign before their deals were set to expire, House Hardy decided not to put pen to paper and the Hardys are now free agents.
It looks like Drew Galloway ended up in a similar situation as well. During a recent interview with the Scottish Sun, Drew confirmed that the company waited until the last second to give him his contract and that just didn’t sit well with him.
“They came to me last week with an offer and it was very very good one, one of the best in the company and a position as top guy but the reality is that because they waited until the last second I had to turn it down. Everything was so last minute. I had to to think about back-up plans and family because it went to the wire. I was surprised I got no heads-up beforehand and when they got in touch last week they wouldn’t accept no for an answer and the financial offer was great so it was a very hard decision to make. If all of this was said three weeks ago I would have signed. They wanted to position me as the top guy in the U.K, across Europe and in the US but it was too little too late. When the news came out I was leaving, the internet response was insane.”
It sounds like Impact Wrestling officials really dropped the ball because now Drew is a free agent which means he could potentially return to WWE.
Drew didn’t say whether or not the company has contacted him, but he did say that, “WWE or any of the big companies would be happy to have me back,” which seems to indicate the door is open.
As for his next move, Drew said he’s not rushing anything. He’s made a name for himself and he knows how to make money on the independent scene. In regards to a possible WWE return he noted that these days he’s all business and he will sign a deal only if it’s the right offer.
We’ll be waiting to see what you do next Drew.
He should’ve taken that offer late or not. Still, glad he’s gone from tNa. The guy looks creepy and is annoying on the mic. Plus, his matches aren’t memorable in any way.
[…] just a shame Prichard won’t have the chance to work with the Broken Hardys, Drew Galloway, or any of the other number of TNA talent that has left the company […]
