Dolph Ziggler walked out after vacating the United States Title on an episode of SmackDown Live a few months ago, and fans hoped that his absence would lead to a bigger storyline for Dolph, but he later returned at the Royal Rumble with no follow up explanation in regards to why he walked out.
During the weeks he was off TV, Ziggler’s status was a hot topic in the wrestling community, but it was later reported that he signed a new deal $1.5 million dollar deal with WWE.
However, during a recent interview with Fox Sports, Ziggler was asked about the lucrative deal, and he said that he has not yet signed a new contract with WWE.
“I would love to get into that more but based on the internet, they told you I’d re-signed and I have not.”
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion went on to say that his contract is expiring shortly, but he does have other options on the table.
“Very shortly. We’re working on it now. There’s a deadline that’s approaching so very shortly. I have some options on the table to do some other things.”
Ziggler has said in the past that he’s asked WWE to take him off TV so that he can return with a fresh start, and he teased that if WWE officials won’t allow him to do that, he might just do it himself.
“I’ve asked before to go away for a little while just so everyone can forget I lose 99 times out of 100 and it’s never really come through, so I might have to do it on my own and see what happens.”
Dolph Ziggler is currently scheduled to compete in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on Sunday.
