Dolph Ziggler recently spoke to The Whig to promote the upcoming SmackDown live event at the Rogers K-Rock Centre in Kingston on Monday night, and during the interview he talked about Cesaro, Tyler Breeze and more. You can check out the full interview here along with some highlights below.
His thoughts on Cesaro: “It’s been almost there a couple of times with Cesaro, who I think is the best wrestler hands down all-around. Strength, psychology and just being awesome at wrestling, I think he’s the best. One of these times, he’s not going to get a break, he’s going to make a break for himself and he’s going to make another break for himself and then they’ll put another wall in front of him and he’ll break it down again and it’s going to be extra special.”
His role in the company: “My role for the last [several years], no matter what position I’m in, was not passing a torch, but just kind of teaching some people who have been quickly brought up what works, what doesn’t, asking them why they did things, if they ask you to watch their match, giving them pointers about it. A lot of them are very effective.”
Why he loves live events: “It is without a doubt the favourite thing of any superstar. There’s no commercial breaks, there’s not boss breathing down your neck telling you how they think you should do your character, your match. You go out there to the ring and you put on a hell of a show no matter what the situation. And it’s so great to give back to the fans. After a match, I’ll jump into the crowd and I’ll high-five a thousand people because I’m so glad they came out to our show and had a blast. It that’s much more special. You live for these live events more than anything because it is the lifeblood of the industry. It’s what keeps it going. If they didn’t come to the shows, we wouldn’t have an audience to perform for, I’d have to go get a real job and be a lawyer or something, and I would hate that. I’m too old to go start being a lawyer now. It’s such a great time.”
