When Roman Reigns returned to WWE in 2020 he returned with a new gimmick as he started referring to himself as The Tribal Chief and The Head of the Table.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the “head of the table” and “head of the family” type storyline was originally created with the idea that The Rock was arguably the head of the table, so he would confront Roman Reigns eventually. The gimmick was created when the long term angle for the year was Rock vs. Roman Reigns.

The Rock recently said on the Pat McAfee Show that originally a Rock vs. Reigns match was locked in for WrestleMania 39, but eventually it was dropped because they couldn’t make it work. The Great One also said that he’s open to the idea of possibly facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 next year.

It’s being said that the ball is in The Rock’s court when it comes to a potential WrestleMania match next year. He has time now due to the strike in Hollywood, but that could change if the strike is settled which would make it more difficult for him to work WrestleMania due to his movie schedule.
