It was announced today that Vince McMahon has stepped down as Chairman and CEO of WWE while the board investigates allegations of misconduct. Stephanie McMahon has assumed the role of interim Chairwoman and CEO, but Vince is in attendance for tonight’s SmackDown taping.
PWInsider is reporting that Vince McMahon was joking around during the production meeting for SmackDown and wasn’t selling anything at all. Multiple sources noted that Vince was in a great mood.
So far Vince McMahon has not discussed the allegations at tonight’s TV tapings. There were whispers that Vince would be addressing the situation, but as of this afternoon that hasn’t happened.
Several sources described the pre-show meetings as weird due to the elephant in the room. No one in the company knows what else could come to the surface due to the investigation, and privately some were wondering how many more non-disclosure agreements could have been uncovered.
Vince McMahon has been announced for an appearance on SmackDown tonight, but the segment was not discussed during the pre-show meetings, and it was treated as if it wasn’t even part of the show. There has been no hints as to what might be stated during the Vince McMahon segment tonight.
