Throughout the history of combat sports there have been a few professional wrestlers who have been able to make the jump to mixed martial arts and find success. Jake Hager announced in November of 2017 that he had signed with Bellator MMA, but his MMA career has seems to have come to an end.

During a virtual signing for K & S WrestleFest, Jake Hager addressed the status of his MMA career when he announced that he’s retired and he’s just planning to focus on wrestling moving forward.

“Officially, I’m retired from MMA. I trained hard last year, but Bellator was j**king me off. I retired and I am now just focusing on wrestling.”

Jake Hager is one of the names who has been with AEW since the early days as he officially aligned himself with Chris Jericho, Santana, Ortiz and Sammy Guevara to form the Inner Circle during the first episode of AEW Dynamite. After the Inner Circle split up Hager continued to work with Chris Jericho as a member of the Jericho Appreciation Society, but the JAS appears to be over for good as Jericho involved in a program with Sammy Guevara.

Hager retires from MMA with a record of three wins, zero losses and one no contest. Stay tuned for updates.
