Cody Rhodes has been one of the most talked about stars in wrestling following the Elimination Chamber premium live event. At the end of the show John Cena turned on Cody after winning the men’s Elimination Chamber match, and the new heel version of Cena aligned himself with The Rock.
The American Nightmare was sporting a black eye when he appeared on SmackDown last week, and he was fired up as he cut a promo which addressed John Cena’s heel turn. While the promo was one of the highlights of the show it sounds like original plans called for Cody to appear in another segment as well.
Fightful Select reports that Cody Rhodes was originally listed as having a backstage interaction with R-Truth on the internal run sheet for SmackDown.
Obviously the segment didn’t end up happening on SmackDown, and while a firm answer wasn’t given as to why, the speculation backstage was that it would have affected the gravity of the promo Cody Rhodes cut before. On the final SmackDown before Elimination Chamber, Cody was involved in a backstage segment with R-Truth that was well received.
Cody is currently being advertised for this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown in Barcelona, Spain, so it will be interesting to see if he crosses paths with R-Truth once again.
