For weeks the TNT Championship tournament took place on AEW Dynamite, and the finals recently took place at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view.
Cody Rhodes faced off against Lance Archer in the finals, and in the end it was Cody who picked up the victory to become the first TNT Champion in history.
This week on AEW Dynamite Cody Rhodes made a huge announcement when he revealed that he will be defending the TNT Championship weekly in an open challenge.
A fan recently asked Cody if the challenge is open to non-AEW talent, and Cody confirmed that it is.
At this point it seems that we could see some interesting names step up and challenge Cody for the title, as there are quite a few free agents on the market right now.
