Cody Rhodes has been on a roll over the last few months and even though Cody Rhodes didn’t wrestle on SmackDown this week he was in action after the show went off the air. The American Nightmare competed in a dark match after the TV tapings which saw him challenge Austin Theory for the United States Championship.

Unfortunately for Cody Rhodes he didn’t win the belt as the match ended in a DQ when The Bloodline interfered, but luckily for Cody Rhodes he was saved by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn who reunited earlier in the night on SmackDown.

Cody Rhodes and Austin Theory are both set to be in two of the biggest title matches at WrestleMania this year. Rhodes will be challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and that match is expected to main event night 2 of the big show. Theory will be putting his United States Championship on the line when he defends against John Cena. WWE has yet to confirm which night of WrestleMania will featured the Cena vs. Theory match. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
