CM Punk made his UFC debut at UFC 203 back in September, and Punk lost to his opponent Mickey Gall in 2 minutes and 14 seconds.
Following his defeat, Dana White appeared on UFC Tonight on FS1 and said that CM Punk probably won’t fight in the UFC again.
“Is CM Punk going to be a guy who is going to stay in the UFC and continue to fight? Probably not. But he wanted to try it. I like the guy. I respect the guy. He wanted to fight in the UFC. He wanted to do it. He trained for two years, and he did it.”
However, it appears that not all hope is lost for CM Punk, as MMAFighting.com recently spoke with Punk’s coach, Duke Roufus, and he noted that things are looking hopeful for Punk’s return to the UFC.
“Yeah, definitely, I believe he and Dana are talking,” he said. “I just talked to Punk on Monday before that, and things are looking hopeful. I can’t say yes or no, but they’re looking hopeful. We’re going to see. Dana’s always got a good recipe of what he’s going to create, and what’s best for the sport, and what’s best for Punk and everyone else.”
In regards to when CM Punk might fight again, Roufus said maybe in four or five months.
