It’s going to be a big weekend for professional wrestling fans as the annual WWE SummerSlam premium live event is set to air live from Ford Field in Detroit on Saturday night. There certainly won’t be any shortage of wrestling to watch as AEW Collision will also be airing at the same time as SummerSlam.

CM Punk has been the centerpiece of AEW Collision ever since it launched in January and he recently explained to Sports Illustrated why he doesn’t think of Collision and SummerSlam going head to head as a competition.

“We are not competing with SummerSlam. We are going to go up against college football soon. We have already been up against monster UFC cards every single Saturday. We are not competing with them. We are competing with what we did last Saturday. I am competing with who I was yesterday as a human being and a pro wrestler, and we, as the Collision team, are competing with what we did last Saturday. That’s always going to be what we are striving to do, and I think that’s an important message for the fans to understand.”

Last week CM Punk unveiled the AEW World Championship belt that he never lost and claimed that it’s the real world championship. Punk will be defending the belt tonight against Ricky Starks in a match that will feature Ricky Steamboat as the special guest referee. Stay tuned for updates.
