Back in November of 2023, CM Punk made his big return to WWE when he appeared after the main event at Survivor Series in Chicago. Punk seemed to be heading toward a big WrestleMania match, but unfortunately for CM Punk he suffered an injury during the 30 man Royal Rumble match and he is currently sidelined.

Even though CM Punk is out of action he still has a presence in the world of professional wrestling. Punk has attended WWE events since suffering the injury, and Fightful Select is reporting that Punk was backstage at the Freelance Wrestling show in Chicago recently.

Prior to suffering an injury during the Royal Rumble, CM Punk was building up rivalries with Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre. It was reported that original plans called for CM Punk to challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40, but obviously that won’t be happening.

There’s currently no date set for CM Punk’s return, but he did note recently that his recovery is expected to take six to eight months. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
