It’s a big weekend for wrestling fans as Friday Night SmackDown and WWE Night of Champions are both set to air live from Saudi Arabia. CM Punk will be challenging John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions, and Punk appeared live in front the fans in Saudi Arabia during the Night of Champions kickoff show on Friday.
CM Punk making the trip to Saudi Arabia has been quite the hot topic on social media over the last few days as Punk infamously told The Miz to, “Go suck a blood money covered d*** in Saudi Arabia you f****** dork,” in a tweet he posted six years ago.
Before CM Punk made his way to the stage Michael Cole mentioned his name and the fans booed. When Punk came out a fan caught his attention, and the former WWE Champion said that the fan wanted him to apologize for a mean tweet he posted.
“This guy wants me to apologize for a mean tweet I wrote six years ago. Hey listen, it legitimately had nothing to do with Saudi Arabia. I woke up, I was crabby, I wrote a mean tweet to The Miz, and I apologized to The Miz,” Punk said.
CM Punk then asked the fan his name and he said it was Mohammed. Punk extended his hand, shook the fan’s hand and said, “Mohammed, I sincerely apologize to you and all of Saudi Arabia.”
The fans then cheered and chanted for CM Punk as he told them he’s not perfect, and sometimes as human beings we screw up. Punk told the fans he’s grateful to be in Saudi Arabia then thanked them. After CM Punk finished up with his segment he hopped down to the guardrail again and took pictures with the fans as the show went off the air.
CM Punk apologizes to the Saudi Arabia crowd for his infamous tweet aimed at The Miz in 2019.
