The wrestling world was forced to make some big changes during the coronavirus pandemic, but companies like WWE and AEW found ways to carry on despite the fact that talents had to perform without fans for some time.

When Matt Hardy’s contract with WWE expired he made his way to AEW shortly after, and when Matt made his debut with All Elite Wrestling he had to do it at Daily’s Place with no fans in attendance. Matt’s debut got people talking without a doubt, but not all of the feedback was positive.

When Broken Matt Hardy made his first appearance on Dynamite he showed up in the upper levels of Daily’s Place. Hardy then teleported throughout the venue as he got closer and closer to Chris Jericho. During a recent episode of Talk Is Jericho the first ever AEW World Champion discussed the segment while noting that Tony Khan wasn’t happy about it.

“Tony was so mad at me. That was the one thing that we were able to squeak through the goalposts of the supernatural wrestling. Afterwards, he was like, ‘I never should have allowed that’.”

Tony Khan previously stated on an episode of Talk Is Jericho that he had a feeling it wasn’t going to work, and he’s tried to cut down on mistakes.

“That was your idea. There’s stuff like that, those are the things I tried to do a lot less of this year, honestly. That’s a good example. There’s stuff like that where somebody had something and I knew I was skeptical going in. I talked myself into it and I wouldn’t have done it. It’s not against you or the idea, it’s just the way it was executed and the way we were talking it about, I had a feeling it wasn’t going to work. That’s the perfect example of things. I didn’t do very many of them this year. We had many mistakes this year, but I tried to cut down on that.”
