CM Punk has been a very hot topic in the world of professional wrestling as of late because it’s rumored that the former WWE Champion is heading to AEW. Punk has been away from wrestling for a long time, so it’s safe to say that there’s a lot of anticipation surrounding a potential return.
During a recent interview with Inside The Ropes the first ever AEW World Champion Chris Jericho was asked if he would like to see Punk join AEW, and he made it clear that he’s on board with the idea.
“Well, I mean, the short answer is, ‘Of course.’ I mean, he’s one of the few guys out there that has has this mythology surrounding him because he hasn’t wrestled so long.”
It’s rumored CM Punk could be making his debut at “The First Dance” on Friday, August 30th at the United Center, and Jericho noted that there’s already a huge buzz surrounding the show.
“So, it would create a huge buzz that would add to the already huge buzz that we have. And I think just the fact that 12,000 tickets sold at the United Center without one name even being announced, or one match even being announced, shows just how much anticipation there is for all of these things. So, yeah, we’ll see what happens.”
