This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown kicked off with General Manager Nick Aldis as he called the WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green out to the ring.
Aldis recalled how Chelsea suffered a broken orbital bone on Friday Night SmackDown last week. He said that he’s talked to WWE medical, and he can’t let her compete in her condition, so he needs her to relinquish the WWE Women’s Championship.
Chelsea told Aldis that she knew it was too good to be true. She got emotional as she said she’s never the QB1 and the fans chanted “you deserve it.” Chelsea talked about all the things she sacrificed to become WWE Women’s Champion. She said that she finally made it, and Aldis should understand where she’s coming from, especially after what happened with him at SummerSlam.
Green brought up how Nick Aldis was a champion, and his wife was a champion. She told him that until someone takes the belt off her, it’s her’s. Chelsea took the belt off and then handed it to Nick Aldis. As Chelsea walked away he told her to wait. He said that as the General Manager he thinks he’s doing the right thing, but as a man, he doesn’t give a damn what medical says.
Chelsea walked back to the ring as Aldis told her she has 30 days to get cleared, or get a face mask, but as far as he’s concerned, until someone takes the belt from Chelsea it’s her’s.
Gunther’s music hit as Chelsea and Nick looked shocked. The Ring General asked Aldis why he pulled that stunt on him at SummerSlam. He then criticized Chelsea for crying about her situation. Gunther continued to question why Aldis added Kevin Owens to his match at SummerSlam. Aldis said he added Kevin to Gunther’s match as Kevin’s return had been negotiated for months, and Gunther couldn’t get the job done.
Chelsea chimed in and Gunther told her to shut up. She told him that there’s only one champion in the ring and it’s her. Gunther got in Chelsea’s face and Matt Cardona came out to make the save. Chelsea tried to get Matt to leave with her and Gunther compared him to a dog. Cardona returned to the ring and they brawled.
An impromptu match was made and Cardona ended up tapping out after Gunther hit him with a powerbomb then put him in the Boston Crab.
