El Grande Americano is the current AAA Mega Champion, and earlier this year he found himself involved in a heated feud with the Original El Grande Americano after Original El Grande Americano returned at the Royal Rumble. Their heated feud led to a mask vs. mask match which many consider to be a match of the year contender.
After the Original El Grande Americano was defeated by El Grande Americano in the mask vs. mask match, Original El Grande Americano was revealed to be none other than Chad Gable.
El Grande Americano’s true identity has yet to be revealed on WWE programming. During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Chad Gable was asked about claims that Ludwig Kaiser is under the mask and he said, “Ludwig? I don’t see it. I haven’t seen him for a while, but I don’t see it. The internet’s a wild place!”
Gable also talked about his reaction to finding out the El Grande Americano character would continue on WWE programming even though he was injured when he added, “I watched it play out, and on a weekly basis, grew more and more competitively driven to come back and take my character back. At the same time, really kind of grateful for the new Grande carrying it on the way he did, because who knows what would have happened to that character had it just been forgotten until I came back. It may have gotten lost in the shuffle. We may have never got back to any point of importance. So, all credit in the world to him for not just keeping it alive, because he didn’t just keep it alive; he made it thrive.”
