Carlito Reveals Original Plans For His WWE Return

Back in January Carlito made his WWE return at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, and fans were happy to see him back in a WWE ring.

It had been rumored that Carlito was set to appear on the special Legends Night edition of Raw a few weeks before the Royal Rumble, and Carlito recently explained to Wrestling Inc. that plans changed.

“I was originally supposed to go for Legends Night, then it got canceled, and then it turned out they had a better idea,” Carlito recalled. “They said, ‘Why use you on Legends Night when we can bring you out for the Rumble?’ To me, it made more sense. I preferred that. It was a great idea.”

The former United States Champion went on to say that it was the members of The Hurt Business who had pitched the idea for his return.

“A couple of the boys have been talking backstage like MVP, Shelton [Benjamin], Bobby [Lashley], The Hurt Business guys have always been throwing my name around in the back,” Carlito revealed. “So I think they’re the ones that got the ball rolling, and then [Mark] Carano ended up calling me and asked if I want to be in The Rumble. It was a good two days.”

Carlito has said that he’s open to working with WWE in the future, but it’s not clear at this point in time when he might return.
