WWE Great Balls Of Fire is coming at fans fast and the card is materializing in front of us. With SummerSlam so close Great Balls Of Fire looks like it is going to lead in to the Biggest Party Of The Summer in a big way.
On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer broke down the upcoming WWE Great Balls Of Fire pay-per-view and speculated on the matches fans should expect.
Of course the main event of the night will be Brock Lesnar vs Samoa Joe. These two monsters will finally collide and the story for this match has been a good one. Joe attacked Lesnar’s advocate and now it takes an entire roster to pull these two off each other. All of that will change at WWE Great Balls Of Fire as the two will finally meet with the Universal Title on the line.
Roman Reigns didn’t have a dance partner for WWE Great Balls Of Fire because all he cared about was SummerSlam where he wants a shot at the Universal Title. When Braun Strowman showed up in an ambulance that changed everything for The Big Dog. Braun vs Roman will clash in an ambulance match at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
Bray Wyatt and Seth Rollins have had an awkward feud to say the least. In his rebutting of Bray’s comments Rollins accidentally said that gods are imaginary. Although that might have made sense in the writers’ minds it didn’t come off too well on national television. These two have a score to settle and the future face of WWE 2k18 wants to prove he’s better than The Eater Of Worlds.
Akira Tozawa will probably represent the Titus Brand and battle Neville for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Even though crowds tend to tune out when the ring is changed to purple ropes this match should still hold fan interest.
Finn Balor and Elias Samson seem to have a budding rivalry with The Drifter jumping Balor telling him to never upstage him again. Therefore these two will probably square off in Texas as a transitional feud for Balor. It’s not that Samson is automatically a placeholder, but for now that’s what it looks like he’ll be used for.
The Miz and Dean Ambrose have been in a heated rivalry recently and it’s even taken a toll on The It Couple’s on-screen relationship . Now with Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel flanking him on either side as his new entourage Miz will be looking to keep his IC Title once more as he battles Dean Ambrose.
The Hardy Boyz want another shot at the Raw Tag Team Championships and they have to go through Sheamus and Cesaro in order to do that. This tag team match for Raw’s top titles will most likely see these four going at it once again.
Meltzer also speculated fans might see Goldust vs R-Truth but if logic would dictate where that match might fall on the card we could see it featured on the kickoff show.
Meltzer said WWE still needs to figure out the Raw Women’s Championship match but judging by how much they love multi-person matches and booking crutches, we might see another six-pack challenge of some kind for the top women’s title on the red brand.
One strange omission is Meltzer didn’t include Big Cass vs Enzo as a possible addition WWE Great Balls Of Fire. As Raw ended in such a dramatic fashion with their breakup who knows when these two will finally square off.
