For years fans talked about a possible in-ring return for Steve Austin and it finally happened back in April when Austin came out of retirement to face Kevin Owens in the main event at WrestleMania 38. Now WWE is looking to put plans in place for WrestleMania 39 at SoFi Stadium and it’s been reported that the company made an offer to Steve Austin.

It’s not big secret that WWE is hoping to stack the deck for WrestleMania with not just Austin but also The Rock and John Cena. Dave Meltzer recently discussed Austin’s status on Wrestling Observer Radio, and he noted that out of those three big names Steve Austin is the closest to being a sure thing.

“[John] Cena is a ‘probable’, and Dwayne [Johnson] is a ‘possible.’ [Steve] Austin is probably the surest of the three… it’s just a question of how he feels, and he’s gonna do what he feels like doing.”

For years now it’s been rumored that WWE is hoping to book The Rock vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, but it seems that the company is also putting plans in place for another option if The Rock can’t do the show and you can get more on that here.
