This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite was the special 200th episode and it featured a big debut from WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam who confronted current FTW Champion Jack Perry. Rob Van Dam challenged Jack Perry to a match for the FTW Championship and it’s been confirmed that Perry will be defending the belt against RVD next week on Dynamite.
As far as things stand right now it appears that Rob Van Dam is only set for a short stint with All Elite Wrestling as PWInsider is reporting that he’s currently only planned for the one match with Jack Perry. It was also noted that Van Dam’s wife Katie Forbes was backstage at the AEW Dynamite tapings on Wednesday night.
Rob Van Dam hasn’t wrestled a match inside a WWE ring in quite some time, but he has made cameo appearances on WWE programming over the last few years. It’s being reported that WWE is still advertising Rob Van Dam as part of their weekend packages for WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia next year.
It will be interesting to see how things play out next week with Rob Van Dam and Jack Perry’s title match as it was also recently reported that RVD vs. Jack Perry was being discussed internally for All In. This week on Dynamite the first match for All In was confirmed as MJF announced that he will defend the AEW World Championship against Adam Cole at the event.
