This week on SmackDown AJ Styles defended the WWE World Championship against rising star James Ellsworth. Styles lost to Ellsworth last week after a big assist from special referee Dean Ambrose, and things didn’t go so well for Styles this week either.
During the World Championship match Dean Ambrose was taunting AJ Styles outside the ring, which caused AJ to go off on James Ellsworth inside the ring. AJ unloaded with a series of strikes on Ellsworth, and when he refused to break it up, the referee called for the bell and disqualified AJ. James Ellsworth may not have the WWE Title, but he now has two career wins over AJ Styles, so, things could be a whole lot worse for him.
After SmackDown was over AJ Styles confronted General Manager Daniel Bryan on Talking Smack and he demanded a match with Dean Ambrose.
Daniel Bryan booked the match and it will take place next week on SmackDown. However, there is a stipulation that has been added to the bout. If AJ Styles is defeated by Dean Ambrose next week on SmackDown, Dean will become the new number 1 contender for the WWE World Championship.
During the commercial break last night during his match with AJ Styles, James Ellsworth was interviewed by Dean Ambrose outside the ring. The two talked strategy before the match returned to the air, and you can see what they discussed via the clip below.
