WrestleMania 39 has come and gone and now all eyes are looking ahead to WrestleMania 40. The show is a little less than a year away, but it sounds like WWE officials are already having discussions about possible plans for the main event.
According to the WRKD Wrestling account there have been early discussions about Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther being the main event for the Monday Night Raw brand. It was noted that both Rhodes and Gunther have expressed interest in working together, and the company sees them as the top face and on Raw.
“While it’s still early, discussions have taken place for #WWERaw’s main event for WrestleMania 40 to potentially be Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther.
Both superstars have expressed interest in working with each other in the past and are seen as the top face and heel on the Raw roster.”

Gunther has certainly raised his profile on the WWE main roster over the last year thanks to his historic Intercontinental Championship reign. He previously crossed paths with Cody Rhodes in the men’s Royal Rumble back in January, and Cody praised Gunther for his performance in the match, so it will be interesting to see if WWE does indeed move forward with a Rhodes vs. Gunther feud during WrestleMania season next year.
WrestleMania 40 will take place from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 6 and April 7, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates on the show as they become available.
