Last year Becky Lynch announced her pregnancy, and she relinquished the Raw Women’s Championship before taking an extended hiatus to focus on motherhood. The Man made her surprise return at the SummerSlam pay-per-view back in August, and when she did she defeated Bianca Belair to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship in a matter of seconds.

The quick win was the start of a Becky Lynch heel turn, but the fact that Lynch put Belair away in such short time certainly got the wrestling world talking.

During an appearance on Out of Character with Ryan Satin, Becky Lynch explained that the match was designed to make it look like Bianca Belair had been robbed so that fans would be interested in seeing her succeed in the long run.

“That’s a great rivalry – we like both of these guys. How do we make them not like one of them? She’s a company girl, let’s do this quick. I know a lot of people were upset, ‘Oh, if they were going to do this, they should’ve had a long match.’ Well, if we had a long match and then I beat her, then I just beat her. That’s not good – that’s not good for her. But if she’s robbed, and we take something from her and she doesn’t expect it, then we want to see her succeed? Oh, we want to see her succeed.”

Becky Lynch will defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair in a triple threat match at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view on Thursday, October 21. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
