Paige was one of the standout stars during her time in NXT, and her main roster career kicked off in a big way when she won the WWE Divas Championship in her debut match. When you look at Paige’s resume from her WWE career, it’s quite impressive, but it doesn’t look like the former Divas Champion will be able to add anything to that resume, as it was recently reported that WWE will not be clearing her to return to the ring.
The Raw Superstar suffered an injury after taking a kick during a recent WWE live event, and she hasn’t returned to the ring since.
It looks like WWE will be trying to find a non-physical role for Paige, but it doesn’t sound like she’s given up on the idea of returning to the ring.
According to a report from HollywoodLife.com, a WWE insider is claiming that Paige has not accepted the idea that her career is over.
“Paige has been burying her head in the sand ever since her latest injury, and she’s been struggling to acknowledge that her wrestling career is probably over for good,” a WWE insider claimed. “It’s really sad, she’s still only 25, and she should be at the peak of her career—instead, it’s looking ever more likely that Paige is going to be forced to announce her retirement.”
The decision for the former champion to be pulled from in-ring competition was a decision made by WWE, but she is reportedly hoping for a return.
“She doesn’t really believe it and is actually hoping for a miracle to someday wrestle again. She knows it is far fetched but her emotions are all over the place right now and she hasn’t accepted retirement just yet.”
Paige has been quiet on social media ever since news of her retirement surfaced online, but she did recently post the following picture with no caption:
