The Royal Rumble aired live on Saturday night and the women’s Royal Rumble featured a huge surprise when TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace entered the match at number 5.
Fightful Select is reporting that WWE contacted TNA last weekend and everything went through TNA. It was noted that Jordynne Grace is still signed with TNA wrestling.
Grace reportedly had a physical and blood work done on Monday then flew to Florida on Thursday to be part of rehearsals for the Royal Rumble. Some people in WWE noted they heard earlier in the month that this could be a possibility. People in both WWE and TNA said that Jordynne Grace was easy to deal with.
During the post-show press conference Triple H praised Jordynne Grace when he said, “Jordynne Grace coming here from TNA, their champion. I want to thank them for allowing her to be here and participate in the Royal Rumble. I thought she had a spectacular showing tonight. She’s an amazing talent and it’s exciting to just be able to branch out. And I’m not gonna use all the cliched terms about what door people go through or anything like that because it’s stupid and silly. But partnerships and opportunities like this come along for some people once in a lifetime, but I’m glad she had that opportunity as it’s well deserved. She’s an incredible talent.”
