Earlier this year Vince McMahon returned to WWE and he made it clear that he was looking to sell the company. The day after WrestleMania 39 it was revealed that Endeavor is set to acquire WWE and WWE will then merge with UFC to form one publicly traded company.
The upcoming merger has created a lot of speculation regarding who could be let go, and Nick Khan himself has said that the company is expected to make some aggressive cuts, but emphasized that the cuts wouldn’t impact production.
Dave Meltzer recently shared an update on Wrestling Observer Radio and noted that while office people are expected to be cut there haven’t been any talks about cutting talent.
“It’s always a possibility, but they haven’t talked about doing cuts with talent. They haven’t really said, they’ve said production, and they’ve said creative there’s gonna be no cuts. There’s gonna be lots of cuts in office people. I don’t anticipate cuts with talent.”
After Triple H took over creative last year he brought back several former WWE stars who had previously been released. The company hasn’t been signing as many people in recent months, so it will be interesting to see how the merger affects WWE bringing new and old talent into the company.
