WrestleMania 38 is quickly approaching and fans have seen some big angles kick off on WWE programming recently. Last week it was confirmed that Pat McAfee will be competing at WrestleMania, and he will be facing off against Austin Theory.
Theory confronted McAfee on SmackDown and he slapped McAfee in the face while announcing that they will be facing off on the Grandest Stage of Them All. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that creative plans for the storyline have changed, and the set up with the slap on SmackDown was different from the original plan.
It had been rumored that Vince McMahon would be facing Pat McAfee, and he is still set to be the key figure in the angle. It’s not known if Theory and McMahon will team up for a handicap match, or if Vince McMahon will just be at ringside.
Originally it was set to be McAfee vs. McMahon, but it’s being said that Theory was going to basically be taking all the bumps. Now the match is Austin Theory vs. Pat McAfee, and Vince McMahon is expected to be introduced as part of the angle soon.
WrestleMania 38 will air live on Saturday, April 2nd and Sunday April 3rd. The current card be seen below.
