Soon WrestleMania season will be kicking off and it’s been rumored for some time now that WWE was looking to book Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch for WrestleMania 39. However, it appears that match is now off the table.

Dave Meltzer recently discussed the potential match on Wrestling Observer Radio and he noted that as of right now Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey is not the plan for WrestleMania next year.

“Right now, [Lynch vs. Rousey] is not the plan. Things change, like we said. I don’t know what Ronda’s match is or Becky’s match but as of today, as of this morning, it was said to me it is very unlikely, and another person who is very well-connected said, ‘I heard it’s dead’ and I asked and it’s not dead because nothing’s dead in WWE, somebody could get hurt and…but definitely not the plan right now.”

As for why the match was pulled from the card, Steven Muehlhausen of DAZN is reporting that a source informed him that people in WWE feel the match has lost its luster.

“In regards to no Becky Lynch vs Ronda Rousey at Mania, people close to Lynch feel the match has lost its luster and should’ve been 1 on 1 at WrestleMania 35 when Ronda was at her apex.”

Stay tuned for more updates on WrestleMania 39 as they become available.
