Throughout the years fans have seen some of the biggest names in the business launch their careers to new heights by winning the King of the Ring tournament, but the tournament has not been consistently featured on WWE programming for some time.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that there’s talk of WWE bringing King of the Ring back. The idea would be to put on a show that’s both King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring.
King of the Ring was a mainstay in WWE for years, but Vince McMahon dropped it as a pay-per-view due to weak numbers in 2002. However, now that WWE has guaranteed money through their deal with Peacock there’s no reason for the company to draw PPV buys.
The last King of the Ring tournament was held in 2021 which Xavier Woods winning the crown. The Queen’s Crown also debuted that year with Zelina Vega winning the first ever edition of the tournament.
