The women’s division is looking ahead to Evolution in a few weeks, and originally Trish Stratus was set to face Alexa Bliss, and Lita was set to face Mickie James at the pay-per-view.
However, this week on Raw the match was changed, and it will now be a tag team match featuring Trish & Lita vs. Alexa & Mickie.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that it was always the plan for the match to be a tag team match.
WWE reportedly announced Alexa Bliss vs. Trish Stratus early on to try and boost ticket sales, as Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella couldn’t be announced until the company shot an angle for the match.
Now that the Bella vs. Rousey feud is moving forward, WWE officials decided to go ahead and make the change.
