This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw featured a lot of hype for the Survivor Series pay-per-view, and Drew McIntyre faced Kurt Angle in the main event.
McIntyre’s performance got a lot of people talking as he managed to pick up a big win over a Hall of Famer when he defeated Kurt Angle.
Sports Illustrated is reporting that the idea for the match was to have Drew McIntyre brutalize Kurt Angle and destroy any hopes the former WWE Champion had of being the captain for Team Raw at Survivor Series.
The story for the match was put together by Vince McMahon & Kurt Angle, and Angle presented the idea to Drew McIntyre after he discussed it with Vince McMahon.
Angle & McIntyre have history together, and before Kurt parted ways with Impact Wrestling back in 2016 he was adamant that he put Drew McIntyre over on his way out.
