Vince McMahon turned 76 years old this year, and even though he’s still very much hands on when it comes to his work life with WWE he will have to hand the reigns over to someone else at some point.

Over the years there’s been a lot of talk about who could take over for Vince McMahon when he inevitably steps down, and during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio Dave Meltzer noted that Nick Khan is the frontrunner to replace Vince.

“It’s kind of a board of directors thing, but you know, probably (Nick Khan replacing Vince McMahon), yeah. Unless they went and hired somebody else from the outside, but probably Nick Khan, yes.”

Nick Khan joined WWE in August of 2020 as the President and Chief Revenue Officer. Khan has become somewhat controversial in the wrestling community over the last year or so due to the number of talents that were released in 2021, and some of the comments he made about the releases.

“I think ultimately what’s looked at is – Is this person, for us, going to move the needle, now or in the imminent future,” Khan said. “We’re always looking for what’s next. We live in the present, we live in the future. We don’t live in the past. So when people leave and they move on in their life and their careers, that’s good by us. For us, it’s what works for us and our product at that moment in time and again, what’s gonna work down the road. And largely in part, the existing roster is based on that,” Khan told BT Sport back in August.

It’s been speculated for years now that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon could take over for Vince, but now it seems that Nick Khan’s name is in the mix. One way or another it will be interesting to see who ends up in Vince McMahon’s role when the time comes.
