Drew McIntyre has been one of WWE’s top stars for some time now and last weekend he challenged for championship gold on the Grandest Stage of Them All. The Scottish Warrior faced off against Gunther and Sheamus in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 39, but it was Gunther who walked out with the gold.

Following WrestleMania 39, Drew became a very hot topic as it was reported that he has a contract with WWE that’s set to expire and he has not agreed to a new deal with the company. One way or another it doesn’t look like Drew will be leaving WWE in the immediate future as Fightful Select is reporting that the former WWE Champion still has about nine months left on his deal.

Drew McIntyre did not appear on SmackDown this week, but it was reported that he was originally planned for the show before he was pulled. Dave Meltzer addressed Drew’s status on Wrestling Observer Radio and stated that Drew wasn’t pulled from the show due to the contract situation. It was noted that Drew McIntyre may have just been given time off because he’s banged up.

Meltzer added that when it comes to Drew’s contract he and WWE are far apart on money, but it’s a situation that will have to unfold as it’s not expected to play out in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for updates.
