The Royal Rumble is set to air live tonight from San Antonio which means that WrestleMania season will be kicking off. There’s sure to be some interesting surprises tonight and some fans have wondered if The Rock or Steve Austin could be getting involved with WrestleMania season this year.
Fightful Select reports that they’ve asked about The Rock and Steve Austin’s status for the Royal Rumble and over a dozen talent said that they haven’t been told anything, but also noted that it’s well known WWE wants them.
One person even noted that the increase in money was significant in reference to what WWE offered when they pitched a Brock Lesnar match to Steve Austin in the fall compared to the Roman Reigns match that was pitched to him this month. At this point the word is that WWE has not heard back from Austin about the match.
It was also noted that there are several people with connections to the company who swear The Rock will be showing up at the Royal Rumble, but there has been no confirmation or indication that it will be happening yet. Stay tuned for more updates on the Royal Rumble as they become available.
