On Friday night RK-Bro put the Raw Tag Team Titles on the line against SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos in a winners take all unification match, and it was The Usos who walked out with the the gold. After the match The Bloodline destroyed their opponents with Roman Reigns attacking both Riddle and Orton.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that The Usos winning the belts was a last minute decision. It was speculated that originally WWE would have found a way to get out of unifying the titles with a DQ finish. The big thing heading into SmackDown was to do an angle to set up Riddle and Orton as opponents for Roman Reigns, but Vince McMahon made the call to do the title change because WWE had been pushing the match so much.

“It’s not like this was some long-term plan… literally, there was no plan. Other than they were gonna do the big angle, and obviously the big angle was to lead to Roman Reigns’ matches with Orton and Riddle. At least that’s the plan as of right now and that can change too. But that was what this was all about, and the tag titles are what the tag titles are, and we’ve got one champion.

“Will they break it up? Nobody knows. Nobody knows when, where or if anything, because the decision itself wasn’t made until Friday. I think that’s why it was on SmackDown, because they didn’t know what they were gonna do. They were just gonna do the angle. If they had planned the unification, it could have been a big deal on this pay-per-view (Hell in a Cell).”

Roman Reigns is not expected to be part of Hell in a Cell, but it’s rumored that he could be defending his titles at Money in the Bank and SummerSlam in matches against Riddle and Orton. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
