Earlier this week it was reported that the WWE board is investigating allegations of misconduct against Vince McMahon, and today it was announced that he has temporarily stepped down as Chairman and CEO of WWE. Stephanie McMahon has stepped up as the interim Chairwoman and CEO of the company, but we certainly haven’t seen the last of Vince McMahon as WWE has confirmed that he’ll be appearing on SmackDown tonight.
Alex Sherman of CNBC is reporting that current plans call for Vince McMahon to appear in character tonight on SmackDown. It was noted that the script for SmackDown was written last night, but Vince tore it up, and WWE writers are working to change the script for the show.
According to the report the power structure in WWE is not expected to change while Stephanie McMahon serves as interim CEO. Even though Vince McMahon has stepped down from his responsibilities as Chairman and CEO he will continue to work as a part of WWE creative.
