Kevin Owens got a lot of people talking when he beat John Cena at Elimination Chamber but things seem to have cooled off for him since. Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live yesterday that Kevin Owens has been dropped down to an “upper mid-card position” and that some within WWE don’t see him as being on the same level as guys like John Cena, Randy Orton or Seth Rollins.

Owens has been on a bit of a losing streak on the main roster recently and as of right now there are no plans to use Owens at SummerSlam. It’s also being reported that Kevin Owens is the victim of a backstage power struggle at the moment as Kevin Dunn who has spoken negatively about NXT talent in the past seems to be the biggest detractor when it comes to Owens.

Dave Meltzer noted that Owens was given big opportunities when he arrived to the main roster with some hoping he would fail.

“To again explain this: there were two schools of thought on Kevin Owens from the start and the basic gist was that some people thought that he was going to make it and some people thought he wasn’t going to make it, and those who thought he wasn’t going to make it made sure that he got every opportunity to make it or else they would be wrong. You know what I mean? I shouldn’t say they would be wrong, they wouldn’t prove that they were right. So now whether he makes it or he doesn’t make it, there is a game going on and we’re in the middle of the game.”

Whatever the issue is, hopefully it gets sorted out soon because WWE is in need of top heels and Kevin Owens was the most believable heel to come around in a long time.

  1. And as always WWE drops the ball again since I’m training to be a pro wrestler my sights are set on joining TNA Wrestling

    • Dude, that’s like climbing on board the Titanic after it struck the iceberg. If you’re seriously dreaming of being a pro-wrestler, set your sights on ROH or even Lucha Underground. But TNA is taking it’s last breathes for survival.

      • Yeah well as long as I’m not working for WWE I’m ok and TNA will be soon up it’s just they need new creative people shit if I was offered a contract with TNA I would be a wrestler but also give suggestions to help the show I know what tna needs

  2. I don’t believe the article because he’s in a 3 way dance with Rusev and Cesaro, which should elevate all of them.

  3. Hmm, WWE has given Owens a chance but much like a lot of other TOP talent in WWE, the storyline writers don’t know how to book him. Let’s be honest, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose, Cesaro, Randy Orton, etc. And now Kevin Owens. All top guys that WWE can’t book right. You can’t blame Owens because he is one of the most skilled and athleticly explosive guys to appear on the scene in years. WWE just takes Talent like that along with other talent and can’t seem to keep them relevant.
