paul heyman

WWE made a massive announcement earlier today when it was announced that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff will serve as the Executive Directors of Raw and SmackDown Live respectively.

PWInsider is reporting that this is not a storyline, and WWE’s announcement was indeed legitimate.

It’s being reported that WWE has been pursuing the idea of having Paul Heyman in their corporate circles as far back as February.

An offer was made for Paul to come on board full time as a top member of the creative team around the time Bruce Prichard was brought back, but conversations were slow to progress.

Heyman had been working with talents such as Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey and Alexa Bliss for some time, and he’s also been working in the inner creative circle without an official title. This deal is apparently something WWE has been circling for a long time, and the two sides recently came to terms.

The deal with Eric Bischoff came together over the last few weeks. Bischoff had a number of personal appearances booked, and over the last week he quietly started canceling those appearances, which could be a sign he came to terms on a deal with WWE.

Bischoff is expected to work directly with FOX, and his previous experience working with networks like Turner and Spike was one of the reasons why he was pitched for the position.

They will be overseeing all aspects of their respective brands, and are said to be at the top of the pyramid with Vince McMahon having the final say.

Their roles are being compared to Triple H’s position in NXT where he’s in charge but Vince McMahon still has the final say.
