Over the last few months LA Knight has become one of the most talked about wrestlers in WWE and it seems that he’s becoming more and more popular with each passing week.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that LA Knight is still internally listed as a heel despite his popularity with the fans. However, WWE is well aware of his popularity and they know he’s a babyface. It’s being said that WWE knows LA Knight is the big flavor of the month, so the thought is that they might as well take advantage of it.
LA Knight appeared on last week’s episode of SmackDown and he made it clear that he has his sights set on the United States Championship. WWE is currently establishing the next challenger for the belt with The United States Championship Invitational. Santos Escobar won a fatal four way match last week to advance in The United States Championship Invitational, and LA Knight will face off against Sheamus, Cameron Grimes and Rey Mysterio in a fatal four way on SmackDown this week.
The winner of that match will then go on to face Santos Escobar for a shot at the United States Championship. WWE has yet to confirm when the winner of the aforementioned match could be getting their shot at Austin Theory’s US Title, but all signs point to it happening at SummerSlam.
