This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicked off in a big way as Ricky Starks was attacked by both Juice Robinson and Jay White. It was later revealed that Jay White was officially All Elite.

Fightful Select reports that Jay White signed a multi-year contract with AEW. The deal was reportedly in place before WrestleMania 39 and WWE sources were aware by then that White wouldn’t be joining the company.

At one point WWE was said to have been confident when it came to signing Jay White with both Triple H and William Regal showing interest in him, but WWE higher ups noted that the company “failed to communicate properly along the process.” It was also noted that Jay White ending up with AEW also could have been a product of Vince McMahon returning to the company and the lack of main roster hires since then.

White had talks with both companies and there were even tentative creative plans for Jay White in WWE. Higher ups knew that time was ticking when it came to getting a deal done, and some people were hopeful as of last week that the company could still land him, but obviously that’s not what happened.
