The Rock returned to WWE last week and now all signs point to The Great One facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. However, there’s been a negative response to The Rock’s return as some fans feel he’s interrupting Cody Rhodes’ story.
Over the weekend graphics featuring The Rock were booed at WWE events and fans even started chanting “Rocky sucks” while Cody Rhodes was in the ring on Monday Night Raw this week.
Fightful Select reports that there was no official mandate regarding how anti-Rock reactions should be handled during the NXT tapings on Tuesday night. It’s being said that the situation was handled on a case by case basis with the lead producer making the calls. Crowd chants were also muted for Ava Raine.
While The Rock vs. Roman Reigns has not been officially announced just yet the match is expected to be confirmed during the WrestleMania 40 press conference in Las Vegas on Thursday. Michael Cole noted during Raw that the match has not been confirmed, and he also questioned whether or not Rock vs. Reigns will become official, so it will be interesting to see how things play out on Thursday.
