Today WWE released several Superstars from the roster, and many were surprised to see that Elias was on the list. Elias had not appeared on TV for a while which led fans to wonder what was happening with the former WWE 24/7 Champion.

Fightful Select reports that even though Elias hadn’t been on TV in quite some time he wasn’t dealing with any type of injury. It’s being said that Elias had been pitching ideas up until a month ago.

Elias first signed with WWE in early 2014 and he made his debut on NXT TV in April of that same year. He continued to appear on NXT programming in the years that followed before he was called up to the main roster in 2017.

For several years Elias was featured regularly on WWE programming. In August of 2021, WWE aired vignettes where Elias burned his guitar which seemingly teased the end of his character. He then returned to TV on the Raw after WrestleMania 38 with no beard claiming to be a man named Ezekiel who was the brother of Elias. The Ezekiel character was a big hit with the fans, but he was written off TV in August of 2022.

Elias was not drafted in the 2023 WWE Draft and now it seems that his run with the company is over. Stay tuned for updates.
