You never know where CM Punk might show up as he made a surprise appearance at NXT Deadline last weekend, then he appeared on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

Fightful Select reports that after Raw, CM Punk flew to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando even though he wasn’t obligated to. Sources noted that even though Punk wasn’t planned for the show he still spent most of the day at the WWE Performance Center. The former WWE Champion was backstage and willing to help any of the NXT talent who asked.

CM Punk was said to be watching matches with talent and giving them feedback. The Second City Saint was moved into areas including gorilla, behind the hard cam and also observed the tech crew.

Prior to CM Punk’s WWE return Shawn Michaels publicly noted that he would welcome CM Punk to NXT. Sources close to Punk say that he didn’t take the endorsement lightly. It’s also being said that Punk is welcome at the WWE Performance Center whenever he wants to be there.

Ibou of WrestlePurists is reporting that sources close to CM Punk say his long term goal is to succeed Shawn Michaels in his role heading up NXT. However, WWE sources noted something like that would be a long way off as Shawn Michaels isn’t anywhere near ready to wrap up his run with NXT. Ibou also noted that Punk observing TV production is something he used to do in OVW, and he would often bend Paul Heyman’s ear.

People at the WWE Performance Center who have worked with Punk say that he’s been a pleasure to deal with so far, and there’s a lot of excitement regarding him being there.
