At WrestleMania 38, Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, but Reigns has yet to defend his title. It was rumored that Reigns would be defending the belt against Riddle at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view next month, but The Tribal Chief is no longer set to compete at the show.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Roman Reigns vs. Riddle is not 100% at this point in time, but if the match does take place it won’t be happening on a premium live event.

“If he wrestles Riddle, it’ll be on TV, it won’t be on pay-per-view. At least that’s the plan right now. The plan is still Orton for July 30 (SummerSlam). Obviously they were building up the Riddle and Reigns match on Monday, so I’m presuming they’re gonna do it, but I was told it would not be pay-per-view match if they do it, and it’s not 100% that they will.”

Roman Reigns is still expected to defend his title against Randy Orton at SummerSlam in July and against Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle in September.
