John Cena appearances on WWE programming are few and far between nowadays, but earlier this year Cena was confronted by Austin Theory when he returned to Raw and Theory wasted no time challenging John Cena to a match at WrestleMania 39. Cena accepted the challenge and he went on to face Austin Theory on the Grandest Stage of Them All, but Theory picked up the win and retained his United States Championship.

During a recent appearance on The Babyfaces podcast Austin Theory opened up about what it was like to work with John Cena at the Showcase of the Immortals and he also revealed what Cena said to him after their match was over.

“Post match, it was a really cool moment. He just told me to enjoy this day, and enjoy this moment, and literally, there was no stress that day, whatsoever.”

Theory also talked about how Cena has influenced his career by encouraging people to not be afraid to fail when he said, “A lot of times that’s what holds a lot of us back from things, it’s us just worried about this and that, and it might not even be you. You might believe in yourself, just because one person has an opinion and it bothers you and sets you off. That’s the biggest thing — don’t be afraid to fail. It’s going to be a ride, it’s going to go up, it’s going to go down, just continue to press forward.”

Austin Theory will be in action tonight when he defends the United States Championship against Santos Escobar on Friday Night SmackDown. Stay tuned for updates.
