AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura are set to light up the Grandest Stage Of Them All on April 8th and people are very excited about the idea of what these two can do in the ring. Fans got a taste of these two at Money In The Bank, but real fans of this rivalry know it extends back to New Japan were these two amazing athletes battled at Wrestle Kingdom 10.
Shinsuke Nakamura actually won their battle in the Tokyo Dome before both of them ironically headed to WWE at about the same time. While Shinsuke Nakamura went to NXT, AJ Styles jumped right to the main roster as he entered with the #3 entry at the 2016 Royal Rumble.
USA Today recently spoke to AJ Styles about his WrestleMania match with Shinsuke, as well as the mysterious injury he’s been dealing with, and he noted that it’s an issue with his knee.
“A little of nothing. It was just one of those… got hit in the back of the knee. I think it scared more people than it actually scared me. I knew I was going to make it to WrestleMania, there’s nothing wrong with me.”
This is great to hear because people start to freak out about the WWE Champion possibly suffering an injury two weeks before WrestleMania no matter who it is. Thankfully, it looks like AJ Styles will be cleared for the Show Of Shows because it turns out the injury wasn’t anything serious at all.
AJ Styles was also asked about his upcoming battle with Shinsuke Nakamura and whether The Phenomenal One is happy about the fact that the first actual time WWE fans are seeing of Styles vs Nakamura will be at WrestleMania 33.
“You know what’s great about that is the same thing happened in Japan, and the same thing’s happening here in WWE. That’s a good thing. There are matches that you can have over and over and over again and people will love it, but there are some matches that you wish you had and you never got the opportunity to see — this is it.”
“This is the match I think a lot of people wanted to see, and I think we proved that at Money In The Bank. The build-up just to that moment was great… The opportunity to do it at WrestleMania is perfect, and the fact that we haven’t touched in a one-on-one competition? Perfect.”
The battle between Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles might not be totally over in WWE once they clash at Mania, but hopefully, this match will more than live up to the hype no matter where it is on the card. The important part is that AJ Styles will good to compete.
