AJ Styles is the current WWE Champion, and he often gets compared to Shawn Michaels due to the fact that he’s consistent in the ring, and that he can work with just about anybody.
That’s why fans want to see AJ work with Shawn Michaels someday, and Michaels did confirm that WWE asked him about the match last year during WrestleMania season. However, Michaels declined the offer to return for a big match with AJ, and AJ Styles recently told India Today that he doesn’t think Michaels will ever change his mind.
“I appreciate the fact that fans want to see big matches but some of them will never happen. I’ve tried to get Shawn Michaels to come into the ring one more time. They’re just not going to happen. But, there are certain matches people hope to see and I hope I can deliver those matches.”
AJ’s right, there are some matches that are just never going to happen, and that’s a shame. While talking about potential dream matches he also mentioned another one which is unlikely to happen at this point, and that’s a match with The Undertaker.
“He said no. I’m not doing it. But being in the ring with someone like Shawn Michaels or the Undertaker and being able to learn from those guys will be a blessing. I would love to be in the ring with Shawn Michaels. Similar size, similar styles and to be in the ring with someone like that and all the knowledge he has. It would be a classic.”
